Nikos Iatropoulos is the Senior Vice President of Business Development, Media and Telecom at Piksel. His role focuses on building long lasting commercial relationships with customers and partners in the media and telecommunications industries focusing on growing the adoption of Piksel Fuse™ Metadata a solution for improved content search, discovery and recommendations driven by granular and enhanced metadata.
Prior to Piksel, Nikos was the co-founder and CEO of Lingospot, which was acquired by Piksel in May 2016. Under his leadership, Lingospot became a leading provider of semantic search and machine learning technologies to some of the world's largest media and technology companies, including Bloomberg, Forbes, Time Inc., Intel, Sky, Boston.com, USA Today, Gannett, McClatchy and many others. Nikos led Lingospot's expansion into deep scene-level metadata services for cable companies, direct broadcast satellite companies, over the top TV distributors, consumer electronics manufacturers, TV and cable networks and mobile application developers. Nikos is a recognized expert and frequent speaker on the future of television and digital media.
Nikos is a serial technology entrepreneur, advisor and investor. Prior to founding Lingospot, he was the founding CEO of Upstream, a global mobile marketing company with over $100M in revenue. He was also the founder of Snack TV, led the global launch of RCS Mobile (acquired by Clear Channel), and has served on the Boards or advised several digital media companies including Out There Media, NCI Mobility (acquired by In-Touch), Hi-Tide Media and Event Now. He is also a Judge for the MIT $100K Competition, a Mentor for the Columbia University Entrepreneurship Coaches Network and a Judge for the Columbia University Venture Competition.
Nikos holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Columbia University and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
