William N. Fordes

From 1980 to 1985, Mr. Fordes served as an Assistant District Attorney in the office of the New York County District Attorney. In 1985, he entered private practice, specializing in complex civil and white-collar criminal litigation.  His clients included the New York Yankees baseball franchise and George M. Steinbrenner III.  

In 1993, Mr. Fordes gave up the full-time practice of law to focus on writing, and has served in various capacities in the entertainment industry, having begun his career on the Wolf Films/Universal Television/NBC TV series, "LAW & ORDER", where he wrote over fifty episodes of the show in its twenty-year run.

The series has received the Emmy Award as Best Dramatic Series, as well as five Silver Gavel Awards from the American Bar Association "in recognition of its outstanding contribution to public understanding of the American system of law" and an award for Outstanding Contribution in the Field of Public Information from the New York State Bar Association.  Mr. Fordes has been nominated seven times for the Emmy Award, the Edgar Allan Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America and the Humanitas Award from the Human Family Educational and Cultural Institute. 

Mr. Fordes is currently the Co-Executive Producer of the Amazon series THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, based on the book by the late Philip K. Dick.  He has also served as Co-Executive Producer on the Amazon series BOSCH, NBC’S CHICAGO JUSTICE, the John Wells/ABC series, “THE EVIDENCE,” the Jerry Bruckheimer/CBS production, “CLOSE TO HOME, and has written pilots for various networks.  His short film, “DO NOT DISTURB,” won “Best Thriller” in the IFCT Awards.  

In addition to his work on “THE EVIDENCE” and “CLOSE TO HOME” and "LAW & ORDER", Mr. Fordes has written for the CBS Television Series "MANN & MACHINE" and has served as Consulting Producer on other television shows, including "LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIM'S UNIT" and “LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT."  In addition, he has consulted on HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREETS", "NEW YORK UNDERCOVER", "FEDS", "PLAYERS", and "THE WRIGHT VERDICTS" as well as several feature films, including "PRESUMED INNOCENT", based on the Scott Turow bestseller, starring Harrison Ford and the late Raul Julia.

Mr. Fordes is a frequent speaker at various Bar Association and Law School functions and has appeared on numerous television talk shows, including Geraldo Live, The Johnnie Cochran Show, The Gerry Spence Show and the late, lamented Court TV.
