Ron Garfield

Ron Garfield serves as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of FremantleMedia North America’s (FMNA) BUZZR.  In this capacity he oversees all aspects of the network’s day to day operations, as well as working with FMNA to establish and execute the network’s long term strategy of building a multiplatform and multigenerational brand.

BUZZR taps into FMNA’s vast portfolio of more than 40,000 hours of game shows, including some of the most celebrated titles of yesterday and today, such as Family Feud, Let’s Make A Deal, To Tell The Truth, Password, Match Game, Beat the Clock, What’s My Line, Blockbusters and Card Sharks. The network is currently available in more than 70% of U.S. DMA households, across 67 markets including FOX O&O markets and all Top 10 DMA’s.  Through BUZZR’s expanding relationship with its broadcast partners, the network is also available on cable operators such as Spectrum, Xfinity, Verizon, Frontier, Altice USA, Cox Communications and Wide Open West to name a few.  In 2017 BUZZR expanded its reach to encompass the entire country, with availability nationwide to DISH customers on channel 245. BUZZR was also the first diginet to establish a presence in Canada with a special BUZZR branded programming block on YES TV.

Garfield came to FMNA with a lengthy background in the entertainment industry.  Prior to joining FMNA, he was with Sony Pictures Television, where he served as the Chief Revenue Officer for FEARnet, a joint venture between Sony, Lionsgate and Comcast.  While in this role, he transitioned FEARnet from a dedicated VOD-based content provider to a successful multiplatform content provider.  This resulted in the establishment of a solid linear carriage subscriber base for FEARnet, as well as a significant increase to the number of VOD subscribers. He also previously served as the Senior Vice President of Distribution for Sony Movie Channel and its Spanish counterpart, Cine Sony.

Prior to Sony, Garfield served as the founding Chief Operating Officer for Ovation TV, where he had responsibility for all revenue generating functions including distribution and ad sales, as well as affiliate marketing, network operations and PR. He was part of the team that helped to secure the private equity funding necessary to launch and establish Ovation TV as the only arts network in the U.S. cable market.

Garfield has also held executive positions at Hallmark Channel, serving as the Senior Vice President of Network Distribution and Service, as well as FOX Broadcasting, where he served as the Senior Vice President of Network Distribution.
