Storyteller

Jessica has written and produced independent feature films and shorts throughout her career.  Her 2003 debut, “Dominoes,” premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival and she currently has an independent feature, “Before I’m Dead” (2019) in filming, with a writer credit attached.  Her short-film script, “Inhabiting Pluto,” was named as a finalist in the 2019 Ivy Film Festival Graduate Short category.   Aside from writing and producing, she comes from an executive-level background in digital media and content distribution.  She has held positions in companies such as Real Networks, Sony Pictures Digital, Yahoo! and Omnicom and continues to work with major film studios, cable providers and retailers to adapt their business models as these technologies evolve. She recently completed an assignment as a Story Analyst for the HBOAccess fellowship program. In 2015, she received a certificate in Feature Film Writing from UCLA and has spent the last three years studying television writing under Jen Grisanti, a former development executive and writing instructor for NBC’s Writers on the Verge. Jessica is currently a graduate student at Emerson College, studying Film & Television Screenwriting (M.F.A.)  On a personal note, she is the mother of a four-year-old son, a Spanish speaker and comes from a multi-cultural heritage as a first-generation Colombian. An active member of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, she fervently supports diversity initiatives in film and television creation and appreciates stories told from a different point of view.
