Christy Tanner is a media executive, streaming leader and digital expert. Her strategy consulting clients include major global and local media companies.As EVP & GM of CBS News Digital, Christy oversaw all digital platforms, including CBSN, the leading digital streaming news network. In her role, she had full P&L responsibility including editorial programming, business operations, and technology for FAST channels, mobile apps, CTV apps, OTT apps, social and CBSNews.com.  During her tenure, Tanner transformed CBS News into the #1 streaming news operation in the US, more than 30% ahead of CNN and 70% ahead of NBC, according to comScore. At CBS and after its merger with Viacom, Tanner oversaw the expansion of News into the company’s core AVOD and SVOD products, Pluto and Paramount+, and launched local versions of CBSN with the company’s 12 owned and operated stations. She also spearheaded the growth of CBSN’s original content slate and continually broadened distribution to make CBSN available more than 20 devices, services and platforms. In 2021, Tanner expanded CBS News Digital’s in-house documentary unit, after more than 90 in-house productions, to include acquisitions and co-productions. CBSN Films marked its first theatrical release in August 2021 with “Bring Your Own Brigade,” an in-depth look at California’s wildfire crisis, and currently is prepping for 2022 release “Black Gold,” a co-production with Darren Aronofsky.  Tanner joined CBS in 2013 through the company’s acquisition from Lionsgate of TV Guide Digital, where as CEO she transformed the business for an on-demand, streaming audience and provided strategic marketing solutions for reaching evolving video audiences to networks, streaming services and cable channels. She previously held executive positions with the Washington Post Company, Wolters Kluwer and Reed Elsevier. She began her career as an editor and reporter for The Associated Press and The Memphis Commercial Appeal.Tanner is one of 282 global UN Women Leaders for Generation Equality and has been chair of the Reykjavik Forum for Women Leaders, a global network seeking to advance women as leaders in business, politics and the non-profit sector. She has served as co-chair of Digital Content Next, the leading trade organization serving premium digital content companies, and in 2017, she received Broadcast & Cable’s Technology Leadership Award. Tanner holds a B.A. from Brown University and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
