Alok Gera

Alok comes to the role from Cisco where he was Director and the CTO of Cisco’s Service Provider Platforms and Applications business.
In his role as CTO, Alok worked across architecture transitions in the area of next-gen applications, cloud and its impact on the infrastructure and its operation for both fixed and mobile. His team focused on creating architectures that brought consistency for development, deployment and operation of consumer and business applications. Focus areas included: Next generation cloud applications as transformational services with specializations in consumer video solutions; virtualized commercial services; virtualization of mobile packet core and network functions virtualization, among others.
Infrastructure transformation, driven by need for improved total cost of ownership for networks and DCs, taking advantage of technology innovations in application development, cloud-based services, enhanced analytics fed by streaming telemetry and adapting web-scale infrastructure solutions to service providers.
Operator transformation adopting agile development methodologies; enabling CI/CD for delivering solutions to service providers; enhanced operations with aaS offers, evolving to machine first models.
Prior to this role, Gera was a Senior Engineering Manager for systems engineering, working with Comcast Cable. He has worked across multiple architecture and market transitions, including migration to the cloud, evolved service offerings and the transition to IP video. 
Alok holds a BA in Electrical Engineering and an MA in Electrical Engineering both from George Mason University.
