Connected TV: Not as Smart as You Think It Is

The industry calls it smart TV. Thing is, it's not really that smart yet. It could go off to Harvard someday, but right now we're still trying to get it to color inside the lines.

Stephen Fishburn, CTO of Splat Interactive, will discuss the big changes in TV that consumers have embraced, and why connected TV isn't quite there yet from developer, technical, user-experience, and commercial perspectives. He'll conclude the workshop with an overview of what needs to change for connected TV to get smart and be widely embraced in the living room. Presenter:

[itvt] is pleased to announce that our second annual TVOT NYC Intensive will take place Monday, December 5th at 730 Third Avenue in Midtown Manhattan .

As its name implies, TVOT NYC Intensive 2011 will pack all the excitement of our flagship TV of Tomorrow Show (spring 2012, San Francisco)--now in its sixth year--into a highly focused, dialog-driven, one-day "intensive" event. Its goal will be to enable the pay-TV operators, consumer electronics manufacturers and technologists who are building the TV platforms of tomorrow to engage in a fruitful exchange of ideas with the brands, broadcasters, networks, producers, agencies, designers, social media companies and other stakeholders upon whom the success of those platforms depends.

In addition to compelling and timely panel sessions, keynotes, firesides and workshops, TVOT NYC Intensive 2011 will continue [itvt]'s tradition of complementing our shows with a thematically relevant art exhibit, and will also feature our first-ever Holiday Party.
