Adriano Farano is the Head of Content at Plex, a streaming media app that helps people discover, enjoy, and share all of their media on all of their devices. Adriano is responsible for helping Plex content partners and publishers maximize the value of their content and strengthen their relationships with their viewers in the digital era.

From 2001 to 2009, Adriano co-founded cafebabel.com, a pan-European online media outlet translated in 6 languages with offices in 35 European cities.  He was a 2011 Knight fellow at Stanford, where he researched new ways to augment the news experience on digital platforms. Adriano then became an entrepreneur in residence at StartX, the Stanford startup accelerator. 

As a journalist, Adriano has written extensively for Le Figaro, Le Monde, Courrier International, Radio France Culture, Project Syndicate and other media outlets. Farano interviewed leaders such as the president of the European Commission Jose Barroso and intellectuals such as Roberto Saviano and Erri De Luca.

After StarX, Adriano became the founder and CEO of the first streaming news service Watchup, which was acquired by Plex in 2017. Watchup was named one of the Best Apps of the Year by Google Play in 2014, has been featured on the Apple and the Amazon AppStores and won a Webby Award in 2016. While at Watchup, Farano built partnerships with 170+ video news publishers such as CNN, CBS, and Vox Media.

Adriano lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his French wife and three trilingual kids. He loves cooking and has recently built a pizza oven made of clay and love.
