Homer Gonzalez III

Director, Products and Services
Comcast Media Center

Homer Gonzalez III has served as Director, Products and Services for the Comcast Media Center (CMC) since joining the company in March of 2007.  In this position, Gonzalez is responsible for the development and introduction of Internet and web-based products and services that the CMC provides internally for Comcast’s cable and video business units and its industry customers.  The scope of his responsibilities encompasses technology selection, market analysis, product definition, product development and product rollout.
Most recently, Gonzalez has served as Product Manager for HITS AxIS, the CMC’s centralized content services bureau for supporting the development and delivery of advanced interactive video services. Comcast Media Center's next-generation suite of advanced services for cable system operators is designed to provide industry-leading solutions for the centralized deployment of Tru2way (formerly OpenCable and OCAP) applications.  With this product suite, the CMC will enable cable MSOs to cost-efficiently deploy ARPU-increasing applications in the areas of Navigation, Advertising, Gaming, Communications/Transport, Programming and Operations/Back Office on emerging Tru2Way-compliant consumer electronics.

Additional products and services that Gonzalez has worked on since joining the CMC include an IP Transit product that uses Comcast’s unique nationwide fiber footprint and metro fiber assets to provide cable MSOs and video programmers with a new and more efficient path to the Internet.  His team also developed the go-to-market strategy for the CMC’s Ad Distribution Network (ADN), which delivers broadcast quality video content over broadband Internet and represents a substantial time and cost savings over the dub and ship method.

Prior to joining the CMC, Gonzalez served as Senior Product Manager for iBAHN Corporation, where he introduced a number of new technology offerings to the hospitality industry, including a new third-party Internet connectivity service.  His team also developed and launched the hospitality industry’s first protected bandwidth product, iBAHN SmartLinkTM, and a wireless VoIP phone product.
Beforehand, Gonzalez spent six years at Level 3 Communications, including serving as a Senior Manager in the company’s Advanced Technical Services Team and later as a Senior Product Manager in its Transport and Infrastructure Strategic Business Unit.  His accomplishments included the design and sale of large customer network solutions for Level 3’s top transport customers, developed pricing strategy for the company’s Private Line Business Unit and authored its first-ever Private Line Pricing Best Practices document.  He also held management posts at Nextel Communications and as a Captain with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Gonzalez earned an M.S. Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri and a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY.  He is actively involved in the local chapter of NAMIC and CTAM and is a member of the SCTE.
