Frank Sandoval
Frank Sandoval joined CableLabs in 2001 to lead the OpenCable Applications Platform (OCAP) Specification effort, part of the tru2way platform. OCAP is now deployed into several millions households throughout the US, and continues to grow as the Cable industry provides advanced receivers to customers. Most recently, Frank has led efforts to define an interoperable platform for a number of next-generation cable services, including addressable and interactive advertising, and comprehensive service measurement.
Frank has over 25 years experience developing software and systems for the consumer entertainment industries. As a Computer Science student at the University of New Mexico, he designed and developed interactive computer graphics museum exhibits, and then joined a pioneer in computer-based professional learning systems. He later became one of the first technical members of the staff of American Interactive Media, a Philips/Polygram subsidiary developing applications for the CD-I platform. In the ensuing years, Frank developed video games for the likes of 3D0 and Electronic Arts, and working on advanced graphics solutions for the web.
Mr. Sandoval has published numerous articles in technical journals, is a frequent panelist at industry events, and in 2006 received the Award for Leadership in Interactive Television from Interactive TV Today.
